Open Illustration Competition 

If you’re an unpublished illustrator, you may be interested in entering our free competition to illustrate a scene from one of George MacDonald’s most popular short stories, ‘The Light Princess’ *

There will be two entrance categories: 

The first category is for over 18’s who can include details of their work on Instagram or a website, and who will have the chance to win six months free mentoring provided by www.picturehooks.org.uk on their Buddy Scheme. This offers those who want to get published, a chance to access the world of children’s publishing.

The second category is for those under 18, or those who do not yet have their art work on a website or Instagram. This group will have the chance to win  a £100 voucher for art materials.

Choose any part of the story to illustrate and send a printed colour copy on A4 or A3 size paper by post or hand delivery, to Orb’s Community Bookshop,10 ½ The Square, Huntly, Aberdeenshire, AB54 8BR.

 

You must include details of your name, age and contact details. In the case of children under 18 a guardian's contact details should be supplied.

To be eligible for the over 18’s main prize, include details of any Instagram or website you have that shows your other work. Envelopes should be marked ‘Illustration Competition’ and should be received by 31st August 2024. Only copies of artwork should be submitted as no entries can be returned.
